Bullwhackers Casinos Central City & Blackhawk, Colorado Two separate casinos, similar in character, were built simultaneously in the different mountain gambling towns. Each was 35,000 sf, four-story building with restaurants, bars, entertainment lounges and a full height atrium. All of the mechanical systems were built on the roof as there was no space on either site. These projects were fast-track with negotiated subcontractors on board early in the design process to keep the costs under control.

Double Eagle Hotel And Casino Cripple Creek, Colorado The Double Eagle Hotel and Casino was built on a very prominent site as you enter the town of Cripple Creek. The lower floor houses the administrative spaces, the main mechanical and electrical equipment rooms, and the main kitchen and restaurant as well as a meeting room/conference center area. The 40,000 sf casino is built on two floors which also include hotel registration, a covered guest pick-up/drop off area and an entertainment lounge. Above the casino are two and a half floors of hotel space totaling 120 rooms. The project was done using a design-build format for both cost control and fast track benefits.

Riviera Blackhawk Casino Blackhawk, Colorado The Riviera Casino consists of a 1,000-car parking structure within six levels on one half of the building and two levels on the other half. he casino sits atop the parking levels and is 35,000 sf in area. Above the casino level lies the entertainment level which is also 35,000 sf. The project has a 650KW diesel generator to provide power for emergencies and also to allow the facility to remain in operation during power outages. This project was done as a design-build format.

The Lucky Penny Casino Hotel Central City, Colorado The project was designed to cover the existing Clear Creek without disturbing its water flow characteristics. There are two levels of ventilated below-grade parking underneath the casino hotel that also houses the main mechanical and electrical equipment. The two casino levels total 60,000 sf and include a full service kitchen, dining area, entertainment lounge and an administrative/security mezzanine level. On top of the casino are three floors consisting of 80 hotel rooms and normal back-of-house functions. This project was also on a fast track, but due to financing problems, the flume cover was completed and the Construction Documents were almost finished when the project was suspended.
