To our Colleagues and Friends….

As you may have heard by now, the Principals of ABS have decided to begin the phasing out process of our firm. Several of us are simply ready to move on to something else in our lives than managing and operating an engineering firm. The difficulties of the current economy and more importantly the rather bleak prospects of a turnaround in the commercial side of the design/construction industry in the near future has presented the best opportunity for us to make this choice.

We are currently not taking on any new design work and most of our terrific staff will be leaving us in mid to late June to find new employment elsewhere. We will truly miss each and every one of these committed yet fun loving people that we have been very fortunate to have worked and laughed with all of these years! The rest of us will continue to wrap up the projects we have in the design phase and then follow those and others thru construction over the next year or so as needed…so we really won’t be completely gone for a while yet. Once our CA work is finished in late 2011 we intend to execute a tail insurance policy that will extend full professional liability coverage on our projects thru late 2014.

We look forward to hearing all of the crazy rumors about what took us down…avoiding bankruptcy, perhaps a plea bargain for past Christmas cards or Peggy is joining the LPGA Tour…whatever they are…they are just that…rumors. Some of us will stay in the industry in perhaps a different capacity while others may move on to entirely new pursuits but we hope that most of you have enjoyed working with us as much as we have enjoyed working with you. As ABS, we wish you all the best…but as individuals, we hope to stay in touch as friends.
