General ABS Consultants is an energetic consulting firm designing mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems for primarily commercial buildings, office buildings, mountain condominiums, large retirement communities, athletic facilities, high-end restaurants and destination resort hotels throughout the country. ABS Consultants provides an excellent and casual work environment. We have over thirty people consisting of partners, principals, project managers, project engineers, designers, CAD operators and support staff. Our philosophy has always been to work hard and play hard. Serving the needs of our clients has always been our number one priority but at the same time we recognize the importance of having an enjoyable design experience and keeping our own sanity. To that end, annual events such as the Christmas party, ski trips, picnics, parties, indoor and outdoor golf tournaments are held throughout the year for our staff, their families and, occasionally, clients. Our unique, if not hysterical Christmas card has become infamous in our industry and a fun cultural experience in the office as well.

We offer a comprehensive employee benefits package. We offer employee and family medical, dental and life insurance. We also offer group long-term disability insurance at a very inexpensive rate. Our 401(k) plan was started in 1990 and offers a wide range of investment options. We match 50% of employee contributions up to 6% and make a profit sharing distribution to the Plan in December. Parking in an outdoor area about two blocks away is provided for the staff.

Each staff member has a computer to allow access to document and drawing files for all projects. Most of our staff designs on-screen with a minimum of redlining. Each employee is provided with an individual email account and Internet access. We currently use AutoCAD, WordPerfect, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook and an assortment of other general and engineering-specific programs.

Our location in the LoDo area of Denver, places us within walking distance to Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team, and the Pepsi Center, home of the Colorado Avalanche hockey team and the Denver Nuggets basketball team. Also within walking distance is Six Flags Elitch's Amusement Park, with a variety of rides and carnival-style entertainment continuously during the summer. Just beyond Elitch's is Colorado's Ocean Journey, an aquatic/river mammal facility.

Nearby is the Auraria Higher Education Campus, consisting of metropolitan branches of the University of Colorado and the Community College of Denver, and is home to Metropolitan State College of Denver so that attending classes regularly to achieve your initial or advanced degree can be accommodated easily.

Our location on the 16th Street Mall provides for easy access to the downtown financial area consisting of numerous high-rise office buildings, many of which our staff worked on during their design and for which we now have tenant finish design contracts. We are located in prime location for access to the Lodo area where numerous turn-of-the-century warehouse buildings and hotels have been converted into restaurants, nightclubs, retail space and upscale loft-style housing.
